VOLUNTEER POSITIONS WITH THE BIENNALE

Would you like the opportunity for a hands-on experience with an internationally acclaimed, large-scale contemporary art exhibition? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to volunteer for the 17th Biennale of Sydney across various areas of the event.

As Australia’s leading contemporary international art exhibition, we offer volunteers a unique experience to work on a major event that involves many artists from around the world. Volunteering is a great opportunity to learn about and be involved in this unique and exciting exhibition.

We are looking for people to assist across various areas of the exhibition with the majority of positions being actively involved in:

•    Visitor and Venue Services
•    Invigilation

There will also be select opportunities within:

•    Education and Public Program
•    Marketing
•    Market Research
•    Administration

Most volunteers will be based at the non-museum venues of Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour, Pier 2/3 in Walsh Bay and the Royal Botanic Gardens. These exciting locations present excellent opportunities for a range of volunteer experiences.

How to get involved

•    Download and complete the Volunteer Application Form
•    Send the completed Application Form with a letter of introduction and your resume (if available) to:

Applications are open now, until 14 July. Our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch with a response shortly after you submit your application.

The Biennale of Sydney welcomes volunteers into our organisation for a variety of reasons:

•    As Australia's leading contemporary international art event, the Biennale has a lot to offer and is fun to be a part of
•    As part of the Sydney arts community for over thirty years, we want to give opportunities back to members of the community seeking to gain experience in
     the arts industry

What our volunteers think
"Volunteering at the Biennale was an awesome experience.  You are instantly involved and can feel the staff (volunteers included) working as a whole in a manner that is both fast-paced and fun. I can't wait to see the exhibition in May!" - Miriyan Kidson, Registration Volunteer 2009
